Copa America Preview Group: C

14:33

Two of the last edition semi-finalist are in the group and those are not Brazil and Colombia, these shows how unpredictable Copa America can be, lets take a look at Group C.

Brazil

Brazil will always be a side to fear, but the team Dunga picked for this Copa America is far from being what Brazil used to be. They have the responsibility of doing a good presentation after the disaster that happen last summer during the World Cup

Key Player: Neymar Jr. Already being the 5th ranked top scorer of the national team you can have a feeling of how important he is for the national team, the Brazilian superstar is coming in hot after a very good season with FC Barcelona.

Keep an eye on: Everton Ribeiro. After being one of the best players in Brazilian Serie A, he chose the road of the money and ended up playing in United Arab Emirates. But in this Copa America we would be able to see why he was linked to important teams in Europe.

Prediction: South American teams still have a lot of respect for Brazil, and the fact they have beat Colombia in their last two games makes me think they would end up first in this group stage (1)

Colombia

After doing an amazing World Cup that saw the explosion of James Rodriguez, is now the time that this Colombian generation achieves a title, but they would face though competition for the trophy.

Key Player: James Rodriguez. Many thought he would be a flop after Real Madrid paid almost 80 million Euros for him, but he has shown the world what he is made off and now is ready to help Colombia getting to the last stages of the tournament

Keep an eye on: Jeison Murillo. Inter Milan just snapped him for 6 Million Euros and could be a long term solution for Nerazzurri´s defence.

Prediction: Being a team that has been playing together for a lot of time, they should be able to finish second place easy, and give Brazil a run for their money for first place (2)

Peru

Peru has always shown good football in South American qualifiers but it has never being enough to make it to the World Cup since 1982. Farfan Pizarro and Guerrero are getting older and maybe this would be their last Copa America.

Key Player: Paolo Guerrero. He may be out of the spotlight that he was when playing in Bundesliga but now he has established himself as one of the most important players in the Brazilian League. Guerrero was last edition top scorer.

Keep an eye on: Andre Carrillo. With the experience four seasons playing in Europe can give, he is ready to take an important role in the national team and impress the ones that havent heard of him.

Prediction: It is difficult to make a prediction about an irregular Peruvian side, the match against Venezuela would be the key (3)

Venezuela

Venezuela is a team that lacks of big figures but has a lot of love for its shirt. Their last presentations in international tournaments has given a new-found respect for a country previously considered as a lighweight in continental competitions.

Key Player: Salomon Rondon. After having a wonderful season with Zenit in which he scored 12 goals, Rondon needs to keep this form if he wants to help Venezuela getting throw the group stages, he hasn’t scored for the national team in almost two years.

Keep an eye on: Jhon Murillo. He has been tagged as the future of Venezuela, with only 20 years-old he secured  a transfer to Benfica, and we know Portuguse clubs have some good scouting habilities.

Prediction: Is either Peru or them, their game will be crucial to know who would be third but I found Peruvian experience would tip the scale in their favour leaving Venezuela on the bottom of the group.
