Copa America Preview: Group B
11:11Group B is an interesting one; Argentina and Uruguay are the ones with
the most titles in the story of the competition, Paraguay in a transition
period after a really bad World Cup Qualifiers and Jamaica that would be the
rookie of this edition of Copa America.
Argentina:
Messi, Higuain, Tevez, Aguero, Di Maria and we can keep writing a paragraph of great Argentinian players that are ready for this Copa America. There is no doubt they are the favorites to win the trophy this summer.
Key Player: Lionel Messi, who else than arguably the best player in the world that comes to the tournament after winning the treble with Barcelona he would want to add a four trophy to his season.
Keep an eye on: Nicolas Otamendi, after a wonderful season with Valencia, if the 27 year-old keeps it up with his amazing performance it can give him the push that he needs to go to one of the top teams in Europe.
Prediction: Only Uruguay would be able to offer some resistance, they would end the group at the top of the table (1)
Paraguay:
A new cycle starts for Paraguay after failling to qualify to the World Cup, a thing that didnt happen since 1994. This time they would try to find themselves but that doesnt mean they can’t surprise Uruguay or Argentina.
Key Player: Roque Santa Cruz, Who else to lead Paraguay than his top scorer of all times and with experience in top leagues like Premier League and Bundesliga.
Keep an eye on: Derlis Gonzalez, you may remember him from the Champions League and the goal he scored against Real Madrid, with only 23 years old he is being followed by important teams around the world.
Prediction If they can steal a point from Argentina or Uruguay they would probably qualify as one of the best thirds (3)
Uruguay:
The current champions would struggle after not being able to count with Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez, but would have another world class striker to replace him with Edinson Cavani and a group of interesting young players.
Key Player: Edinson Cavani, He comes hot after scoring a double against a low rated Guatemala side, Uruguay would rely on his goals to be able to reach higher rounds of the competition.
Keep an eye on: Giorgian de Arrascaeta, this one is one of our favorites, currently playing at Cruzeiro he plays as an attacking midfilder and has a lot of skill. He would be heading to Europe sooner than later
Prediction: They must get a win against Paraguay to secure the second place of the group (2)
Jamaica
Reggae Boyz, this would be their first time on Copa America, but their team doesnt have the quality and lack discipline so it would be really difficult to beat any of their rivals in group B.
Key Player: Rodolph Austin. In a team without a sparkling figure the former Leeds player would have an important role captaining the Reggae Boyz in a really difficult group.
Keep an eye on: Darren Mattocks, The Vancouver Whitecaps is really fast and has scored in most of Jamaica last international games.
Prediction: It would be really surprising if they even get a point. (4)
